2021 Legislative Priorities

Yesterday's attack on the nation's Capitol makes us realize that we must not take democracy for granted. The formalities and rituals of government matter, and they deserve our respect. Our participation in government is an American privilege.

In that somber and humble vein, we want to share with you our list of priorities for the upcoming 87th Texas Legislature. We believe this document reflects our moral values, our convictions, and our vision for Texas schools. Admittedly, it's a long list for our organization, but we couldn't leave a single thing out.

Just to put it in a nutshell, we want to ensure funding, opposing vouchers, addressing accountability, and regulating charter schools.

But we want you to know that all ten of our priorities are important to us and reflect our commitment to making sure that all of God's children have access and opportunity through our excellent Texas schools.

We are praying for our legislators and their staff as they begin the hard work of the session next Tuesday amid a pandemic. We pray for their safety, their wisdom and compassion for the people of our state.

We hope you will engage with us to make this visionary document a reality in these next months.
