Feed Our Kids
This month Pastors for Texas Children clergy and faith leaders along with our partners at Episocpal Health Foundation are raising awareness on food insecurity, in particular protecting SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) from potential state cuts. PTC clergy participated in the "Call to Feed the Hungry" weekend in early August, from pulpits and within congregations, to raise awareness of this crucial issue affecting many of our students and their families. Learning cannot take place in an atmosphere of fear, especially when children and parents are worried about their next meal. Protect Our Kids
PTC has also launched a new initiative, funded by the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, to expand the number of LGBTQ+ affirming clergy and congregations PTC works with across our state. Legislative attacks on diversity in our schools also impact LGBTQ+ students and school staff. As PTC broadens the scope of public education issues we address, we also want to broaden our perspective and partnerships with clergy and congregations who are leaders on issues of inclusion. Public Education is on the Ballot
PTC's campaign, Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future, is a targeted voter engagement campaign focused on the legislative districts where trusted local voices can make the greatest difference. Through grassroots organizing, digital outreach, and strategic communications, we are encouraging Texans to support leaders who will strengthen neighborhood public schools.
Our campaign budget is nearly $300,000, and thanks to generous supporters, more than $185,000 has already been committed. We are now raising the remaining funds to expand voter outreach and community engagement during the critical weeks before Election Day.
