Our Schools, Our Democracy On Greg Abbott’s Double Standard

Our close friends, allies, and partners at Our Schools, Our Democracy issued a hard-hitting press release last week on Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement that he would audit Texas public schools even further.

Everyone knows that our independent school districts in Texas have to have an annual audit. Accountability and transparency are hallmarks of our public school system.

But, guess what? No such audit has been required by the governor for charter schools or voucher schools.

And on the same day that the additional burdensome audit was announced, it was revealed that the Texas Education Agency that Greg Abbott oversees is bloated with waste and excess.

Public Education is on the Ballot

Many of you are distressed at the dismal moral condition of our beloved Texas. And are wondering what you can do to change it. Three things:  1.) Vote. 2.) Get everyone you know to vote.

3.) Make a contribution to our campaign to turn out a vote for our Texas schoolchildren. It doesn’t have to be like this!

PTC’s Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future campaign is a targeted voter engagement effort focused on key legislative districts where trusted local voices can make the greatest impact. Through grassroots organizing, digital outreach, and strategic communications, we are encouraging Texans to support leaders who will strengthen neighborhood public schools. Of our nearly $300,000 campaign budget, more than $220,000 has already been committed, and we are raising the remaining funds to expand voter outreach and engagement in the critical weeks before Election Day.

You may make a tax-deductible contribution to Pastors for Texas Children (501(c)(3)) or support our advocacy efforts through Pastors for Children (501(c)(4)).

Your investment will help reach voters in the districts that will shape the future of Texas public schools.
