Cameron Mason Vickrey
We have some changes to announce at PTC. We are sorry to say that John Noble, who has done an amazing job as our communications director for two years, will be leaving PTC in June. John just completed his Master of Divinity degree at Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, and will begin a new job with Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement in June. The good news is that public education champion Cameron Mason Vickrey is joining us as PTC’s new associate director. Cameron will take on many of the communications responsibilities that John held, and she will also work to engage pastors and faith communities in school ministry and advocacy, especially in south and central Texas. Cameron holds a Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest University Divinity School, and she has several years of ministry and advocacy experience. She grew up in Dallas and now lives in San Antonio with her husband Garrett Vickrey, pastor of Woodland Baptist Church, and three daughters: Finley (10), Zetta (8) and Sloane (5). Cameron is well acquainted with education advocacy in Texas, and she brings a wealth of experience to this role. In fact, Cameron has been involved with PTC in San Antonio since 2014. In 2018, in an effort to encourage parents to send their children to public schools, she co-founded an advocacy organization in San Antonio called RootEd which promotes public schools through social media storytelling campaigns and a grassroots network of parents who advocate for their school in the community. Cameron believes that being connected to your local neighborhood school, by investing your volunteer time, your ministry, and especially your own children (if you have them), is a meaningful way to serve God and neighbor alike. Pastors for Texas Children is a natural fit for her longtime passion to serve the millions of Texas children in public schools and their teachers. We are so excited to have Cameron join the PTC team!
